The annual Harvest Mass took place in Bodyke Church on Sunday October 14th at 11.30am.
Weather for farmers and gardeners in 2012 was far from ideal but in spite of that the harvest was completed and judging by the fine display of produce in our church on Sunday we have much to thank God for. The display which featured vegetables, fruit, turf, firewood, hay, straw and eggs among other items demonstrated Earth’s fruitfulness.
During Mass other work and achievements in our parish were recognized and Fr Donagh accepted tokens from our parish sports clubs (hurling, camogie, badminton and handball), Tuamgraney Development Association, The Apostolic Work Society and the Youth Club ,all of which were placed at the altar. The Parish Choir greatly enhanced the ceremony which also featured traditional music and dance and much to the delight of the congregation all the babies who were baptized in our parish during the past year were brought to the altar and were blessed by Fr Donagh.
Fr Donagh praised all the parishioners who get involved in any community activities in Bodyke & Tuamgraney and he thanked those who worked to make the 2012 Harvest Mass so special.
