A very enjoyable Christmas Social for senior citizens, organised by Fr. Donagh and the Pastoral Council, took place on Sunday 16th December 2012. Mass was celebrated at 3pm in St. Joseph’s Church, Tuamgraney, and this was followed by Christmas dinner and musical entertainment in Hassett’s Lounge. Approximately fifty people from the parish sat down to a wonderful meal catered by Finbar O’Halloran to his usual high standard. The Grogan Brothers then very ably entertained the guests for a couple of hours. Most of those present took to the floor for a dance or two and, to top it all off, Santa himself put in an appearance, presenting each of the guests with a gift to mark the occasion. Everyone who attended the social agreed that it was a most enjoyable evening and expressed their gratitude to Fr. Donagh and the pastoral council for their work in organising the event. Many thanks are due to the following people for making the Christmas Party such a great success: Des Hassett for letting his premises be used as a venue for the event; Finbar O’Halloran for supplying the food; the Grogans for providing the musical entertainment, and all those who donated Christmas cakes on the day.
