New Mayor for Tuamgraney

Frances topped the poll with 33% of the vote and was presented with her chain of office by Councillor Joe Cooney. Frances was supported during her campaign by her husband Jim and family, and by her sponsors Paul and Nuala Kilkenny at Teach Uí Bhriain. Nuala said last night that “Frances will be a fantastic mayor for Tuamgraney and that Teach Uí Bhriain are so delighted that their mayoral candidate won this year’s election”. Credit also goes to the other three candidates – out going mayor Ted Minogue, Liam Furlong and Tony Dillon. The weekend was a huge success with many guests from overseas attending the events and embracing the concept of “The Gathering”. Over 1800 votes were cast over the week and, as each vote was a person at an event, the numbers speak for themselves and the community in Tuamgraney were really the winners this weekend.
