At Mass in Bodyke on Sunday 11th October our parish gave thanks to God for a bountiful harvest this year. A wonderful display of produce had been arranged before the altar by Biddy Hogan and her team and then during Mass parishioners brought further offerings of produce, symbols and awards which reflected achievements in Bodyke & Tuamgraney during the past year. The congregation saw that in spite of having had a wetter than normal year we did get opportunities to gather a rich harvest and that we do indeed have much to be thankful for.
After Holy Communion Fr Donagh welcomed and blessed babies who were baptised in the parish since last harvest. He also thanked all who had participated in this Harvest Thanksgiving especially the parish choir, those who had arranged the display, Philip Moreau who had reminded us of Keats’ Ode to Autumn as he explained the significance of the ceremony and Joanne O’Brien who had co-ordinated the offerings.
